Setting Up a Custom Email Domain
Registry Direct now allows you to send platform communications using your own custom domain (e.g., investors@yourcompany.com.au) instead of the default noreply@registrydirect.com.au. This feature enhances your brand ownership and improves email deliverability by ensuring emails are authenticated and not flagged as spam.
How it Works
The custom email domain configuration follows a hierarchical structure:
Client Level: Configuration set at the Client level will apply to all Issuers under that client by default.
Issuer Level: Individual Issuers can choose to inherit the Client-level configuration or set up their own unique domain override.
Setup Instructions
To configure your custom domain, follow these steps:
1. Access Configuration
Client Admins: Navigate to the Client Centre and select the Custom Email Domain menu item.
Issuer Admins: Navigate to the Issuer Centre and select the Custom Email Domain menu item.
2. Enter Your Domain
Enter the domain you wish to send from (e.g., yourcompany.com.au) and your preferred email prefix (e.g., registry or investors).
3. Configure DNS Records
Once you enter your domain, the platform will generate specific DNS records that must be added to your DNS hosting provider (such as Cloudflare, GoDaddy, or Route 53). You will typically need to add:
3 x DKIM Records (CNAME): Used for email authentication and signing.
1 x SPF Record (TXT): Authorizes Registry Direct to send mail on your behalf.
1 x DMARC Record (TXT): Provides instructions to receiving mail servers on how to handle emails that fail authentication.
Tip: Use the "Copy to Clipboard" buttons next to each record in the platform to ensure accuracy.
4. Verification
After adding the records to your DNS provider, return to the Registry Direct platform to verify the domain.
The verification process can take between 10 to 70 minutes depending on your DNS provider's propagation time.
The status will update from Pending to Verified once authentication is successful.
5. Activation
Once verified, you can toggle the domain to Active. All outbound communications, including system and MFA emails, will now use your custom branding.
Important Considerations
Deliverability: Authenticating your domain is critical for ensuring your emails reach investors' inboxes and are not marked as spoofed.
System Emails: When a custom domain is active, all platform-generated emails will use the custom domain to maintain a consistent brand experience.
Preview/Demo Modes: Please note that custom email domains are not active in Preview or Demo environments.
