Politically Exposed Person (PEP) and watchlist screening using GreenID

PEP and sanctions watchlist screening can be performed on individual contacts in several ways; as part of an AML/CTF verification of a contact, as a separate PEP and sanctions watchlists screening of a contact, and as part of a bulk screening of contacts.

More information about what is covered in this screen is under Watchlist screening below

You can see an overview of the PEP and sanctions watchlist screening statuses for all contacts in your client database in the client centre AML/CTF verification centre.

PEP and watchlist screening as part of AML/CTF verification

If you perform an AML/CTF verification on a contact, the PEP and watchlist screen is automatically included as part of this. See the AML/CTF verification using GreenID article for this option.

Bulk PEP and watchlist screening in the AML/CTF verification centre

You can select a group of individual contacts to be screened at once in the AML/CTF verification centre. See the AML/CTF verification centre article for this option.

Separate PEP and watchlist screening

You can also perform a PEP and sanctions watchlist screen separately from AML/CTF verification. To perform a separate PEP and sanctions watchlist screen:

  1. On the contact detail page, go to the Verification section PEP and watchlist screening module.
  2. Click PEP and sanctions screen.
  3. GreenID will return a verification status which will be displayed in the module:
    • Passed. The individual was not found on any watchlists.
    • Failed. The individual was found on watchlists.
  4. Once a screening has been completed, you can:
    • Download a pdf report of the results by clicking Download report.
    • View a history of past screening results by clicking View history.

Supplying a date of birth

You may need to supply a date of birth before being able to run a screening. To add date of birth:

  1. In the Identification details section of the contact detail page, click Edit.
  2. Enter the date of birth in the Date of birth field.
  3. Click Save.

Note: Using GreenID will incur a cost per individual lookup.

Watchlist screening

Watch lists contain the names of known criminals, sanctioned individuals, politically exposed persons (PEP) or other high risk individuals. Screening your applicants against watch lists can help you comply with regulatory requirements or simply give you extra assurance about who your customers are. The Premium Dow Jones Watch List Service searches data gleaned from more than 1,000 watch lists and provides additional profile information compiled by the Dow Jones Risk and Compliance team.
